My First Blog

We all know that one person who always wants to make a dollar. If you know them well enough, you would probably say they were born this way. For as long as I can remember I have had a fascination with making money. As children my cousins and I would make lemonade stands and host our own yard sales. This eagerness to make a quick dollar carried over into my early teenage years. In middle school my best friend and I started our first “business”. This so called business consisted of making custom ordered PlayStation and Xbox controllers. In my early years of high school I would sell gum after lunch. My business oriented mind saw how close my locker was to the cafeteria and couldn’t resist doing so.

After my four years of high school I was left with a feeling of uncertainty. I had no idea what interested me enough to go another four years of learning. My whole life my dream was to play football as a job and make millions. It became clear to me that many things could take that away from me in the matter of seconds. I needed a backup plan. I began to look up the most lucrative jobs and see how most wealthy people got to where they are. I came across a statistic that 70% of millionaires were investors. After doing a little bit more research I decided to study business management. I chose this thinking I wanted to start a chain of restaurant franchises.

During my last summer before starting college I worked in a restaurant. I soon realized that was not for me. The stress and tension it takes to run a food chain did not seem worth the pay to me. However, I was not interested in going to school undecided so I stuck with the major I previously chose. After completing my first semester and learning more about the business world I decided to switch to finance. I figured this could land me with a higher paying job than managing restaurants. Finally after my second semester I decided to switch again, this time to accounting. I realized that Id learn the same things that I would in finance plus more. In my eyes this seemed to give me the most opportunity to bring me to a place of financial stability like I had always dreamed.
